WAMX

this* is a cassette tape. for those of you who grew up on CDs, this was what we used to listen to music on. this, records, and yes, even 8 track tapes. don't laugh. the first "boom box" i had had an 8 track tape player on it.

oddly enough the sante fe we recently bough has a cassette player in it. i dug out the few tapes we had left (i used to have an assload of them, but they got stolen) and listed to one today on our way to drop off the broken car. and better even than the fact that it was a tape? it was a MIX tape! whooohooo. i was the queen of the mix tape. i made the hubs tapes when we were dating (they were stolen dammit). this tape had WAMX written on it. it's a radio station in huntington, wv. so i probably made it the summer we got back from germany, before i started college (in huntington, go herd!) in the fall of 1986.

wow. i haven't listened to every single song, but i had everything from james taylor, rick astley and journey on there to american pie. mix tapes rule.

*this image isn't MY tape it's from google images.

OMG! I love mixed tapes, and still have a few from back in the day. Good times, good times. Also the 8-track made me laugh because I'm with you on that one. I also still slip and show my age and say things like, "Maybe we can stop by the record store." Then my daughter asks me "what's a record?"

Mr. P was cleaning out his office today so we could get to the Christmas stuff and have room to organize the selling of all our old crap, I mean good stuff on Ebay...he came across 4 cassettes...2 Rick Springfield, 1 Dishwalla, and 1 that we aren't sure what it is...could be mixed tape, could be Mr. P taping a Black Sabbath record. If you run out of music, I will be happy to send your way...

Mix tapes TOTALLY rule!!!

My first musical 'thing' was a tiny record player, blue and white, that played my stack of small records (the little kind of records, not the full-size ones). I always think about it at this time of year because my favorite record was the Chipmunks Christmas song!

I want to do a rendition of "Video killed the radio star", substitued with "Ipods killed the mixed tape."
