Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns. -- George Eliot
fall
fires in the firepit
crunching leaves
a nip in the air
shorter days
cool nights
pumpkins
and mums
hot chocolate
and roasting marshmallows
the smell of winter waiting in the wings
wearing jackets
and putting away flip flops
cozy sweaters
the smell of burning leaves

I spend my late summer, early fall wishing and wishing those colours would hurry up and get here, forgetting that once they do, they are gone far, too fast.
