this is a bad shot of the current hardware. i'm pretty certain this will be one of the changes we make.
this is the fruity border. the kitchen is as it was when we moved in the house--this is NOT my handiwork. this will come down, obviously.
you can't really tell from this shot, but that green stripe? it's rag-roll painted or some other such thing. it will go away along w/ the border (once i decide what color to paint in here.)
and these are the cabinets. there are 31 in all. after reading all of your comments/suggestions i'm thinking painting the walls and updating the hardware is a good start. also, if you look closely, the backsplash is white tile w/ green accent tiles. i can get a special paint to cover the green right?

I totally had that same blue polish up until a couple weeks ago. She has good taste.
I used to work in a hardware store...Let me research that tile paint for you, but I don't see why a good enamel paint wouldn't cover that.
And that wallpaper is hideous. In case you wanted my opinion :)
You can get a paint for tiles. We've used the stuff many times as my wife has a passion for redecorating.
Also? cute toes-
I have that blue on right now.
Careful with painting tile. My friends did it in a bathroom w/ disastrous results.
I think you're on the right track. Love the boys room. Great green!
I love that green! The blue is good too! Very vibrant colors.
I meant the trim on the cabinets...maybe the same color stain as the cabinets?
Until you pick a kitchen color, you can always paint it a neutral color for the meantime. And if you want to go darker, the neutral color will make it easier as it is hard to go darker from white. I think paint and changing the hardware is the way to go. It is going to be a lot of hardware, but look for sales!
Good luck! The kids rooms look great so I am sure the kitchen will too.
I think painting and changing the hardware are going to make a world of difference! You have to keep us updated, maybe you could show us choices of hardware and we could vote? You don't want us that involved?...fine be like that.
Holy 80s, Batman!!!! Those stripes! wow!
I think before you paint the cabinets, you should paint the walls in the kitchen and see how they look. Also, I just had this idea, could you maybe restain them with a tinted stain?
