hmmmm, did all of you realize the olympics started today? i have to admit that i've not followed them since i was a kid. is it just me or have they lost their grandeur? i'm not talking about the dog and pony show part of it, cos i'm sure with technology and just the evolution of entertainment THAT part of it has become more over the top.
i'm talking about the...excitement maybe? pride? anticipation? national attention? i don't know. it's just not the same any more.
are you olympic followers?

OMG, I just posted about this! I totally agree with you - it's definitely lost its sheen. I actually feel more nervous now about finding out that half our team is a bunch of dopeheads or something than I do interested in the people themselves. Hopefully that will change if I actually have time to watch any events.
so far the only coverage i've seen is when i get online and yahoo throws up the medal count. the hubs and i talked about this last night too--part of it, i think, is because there are 500 million channels w/ other things on, not like when i was a kid and basically you had the three networks and at least one of them was all olympics all the time.
BIG Olympic fans here. The TV was on ALL day yesterday. The kids were enthralled with the sports. 45 minutes until the USA/China basketball game comes on. :)
Still, we prefer the winter olympics~ice hockey and all, you knows.
